medical school admissions consulting

00:59

More and more medical schools are offering waitlist decisions to students rather than acceptances.

01:42

If you're at a medical school interview and you know communications are encouraged send a letter of intent.

02:21

Simple guidelines to get off a medical school waitlist.

02:51

October 15 are when initial acceptances go out.

03:15

The most common thing you know that students do is to write a letter of intent.

5:05

Why are these letters of intent so influential

05:43

What should you write in a letter of intent.

07:31

Do not write more than one letter of intent. Remember, the letter of intent is NOT legally binding

08:18

So paragraph number one: let the reader know when you interviewed you want to remind them about who you are.

08:31

Next, in this paragraph state clearly that the school is your top choice.

08:44

Paragraphs two and three: express why you were interested in the medical school and how you will contribute to the community.

09:18

Paragraph four: update the school on any recent accomplishments of which they might not be aware.

09:30

Paragraph five, close your letter briefly reiterating your enthusiasm for the school and expressing again that you will attend if accepted.

09:39

To whom should you address the letter

10:27

Send in additional letters of reference. So many students over the course of the application year meet new professors or mentors.

11:49

What you do over the course of that year can really help you get in to the medical school of your choice.

12:32

So most waitlist conversions to acceptances won't happen until late May even June. Okay, so we definitely find that for students.

12:44

March to June is is an especially difficult time in the medical school admissions process.

13:05

Medical students are required to only hold one medical school acceptance offer.

14:55

Follow the guidelines i've outlined here and send letters of intent.

15:01
